Card making day

Still playing around with the same papers that came last week.  I have some little wooden birds, so time to use one before they sprout leaves!!

Card for son-in-law who is a bit of a fanatic about cars.  Lastly another commissioned card for Fathers Day - the rosette idea seemed to have gone down well this year- made quite a few in various colour themes.

Miraculous

After dropping the phone in the bath I thought all would be lost.  I couldn't get the back off to try and dry it out quickly, so put it in the airing cupboard as the screen was all fogged up inside.  Today all clear, batteries back in and hey presto it works.  Phew!!

First card made since coming back from holiday - I think I have fried all my creating thoughts walking the strip as I struggled to think of something.  Had some lovely papers, but just could not get my head around on how to use them.  So a not overly inspiring one, but my mum won't mind (well, she won't know!!)

It's going to be one of those days.... bath plus telephone does not make a good mixture.  I think I may have broken it.

(Phone gets knocked off edge of bath into bath and comes out rather full of water.  I cannot get the back off the phone and so having to leave to dry out and wait to see if it miraculously works - I doubt!!)

No cooking - yay

Off to Bluewater today to have lunch out at Loch Fyne.  Dave had vouchers for christmas and finally he is well enough to go out for din-dins.  I'm not overly fussy on fishy dishes - hate mussels, clams and all that, but see on the menu they have gressingham duck with roasted sweet potatoes - so sorted!!  Off for a bath and clean up, then out.  Have a good weekend all of you out there in internet land.......

I'm a mucky puppy

Have just spent the day down at mums helping her to re-arrange the rockery.  It had got rather overgrown during the past year - lots of clover getting mixed up with the plants and loads and loads of leaves from various bulbs that had been put in there - so time for a radical overhaul.  We have done about a third of it, removing the rocks to get at the clover which have roots going on forever.  I was wearing croc shoes

but the soil was getting in the gaps, so ended up taking them off and working in bare feet.  In all we toiled for about 5 hours.  There is still the concrete bird pond to bash out because mum is fed up trying to keep it clean, as the wood-pigeons use it as the communal toilet (like our bird baths - always having to clean them out - mucky birdies).  Eventually it will be more manageable as mum is now 80, and although fairly fit she shouldn't be clambering over rocks and things any more.  My dad would spend all day, every day in the warmer weather just pottering around his rockery and so could keep it under control.  So a busy weekend ahead with sledge-hammer and hard graft!!

Visit to London

Yesterday was an early start 7.30 am (early for me).  Dave and I had to be at St. Thomas's Hospital in London for his biopsy.  So a drive to Ebbsfleet where we caught the High Speed Link into St. Pancreas Station,  A 14 minute journey, which we worked out as  £1 a minute each.

Then on the tube for two different changes.  Although by now it was nearly 8.45 the tube was absolutely crowded - like sardines in a tin.  I wonder what it will be like when the Games are on - a place to avoid for sure.

After his op, and a little wait around to make sure he was okay, we had lunch in a nice little french cafe.
Dave, being savoury had croque monsieur which he said was delicious, and me being of the sweet tooth had carrot cake, which also was delicious.

We decided to walk back to the station via Houses of Parliament - queue was too long, Westminster Abbey - queue was massive, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square.  It was getting rather hot and busy by now - needed a 'pee'.  50p - for one small .......  I couldn't believe it, what a rip off.  Caught the tube back to station and home.  Although we live so close to London, we do not visit very often.  Like most cities - everything is so pricey and the queues so long, especially during the summer months.  If we go, we tend to go more in the winter months.  Still pricey, but hardly any queues.  Over the years have pretty well done it all anyway - from the Tower of London, river cruise, to the London Eye and all the museums.  It doesn't really change, so no point in re-visiting and 50p for a wee - outrageous!!!
